Thomas “Tommy” Novak
February 4, 1967 – April 20, 2025
Thomas “Tommy” Novak, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and loyal friend, passed away on April 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of those who meant the world to him. He was the devoted husband and soulmate of Lisa (née Myerscough), his best friend and partner for 34 beautiful years.
Tommy and Lisa started their life together when they were still young, building something lasting from the very beginning. They shared a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments, always leaning on each other through whatever came their way. Their bond was steady and real, shaped by years of shared experiences. They were each other’s constant, each other’s home. They also shared a love for traveling and especially cherished their trips to Cancun, where they made some of their happiest memories together.
Tommy found his peace on the water. His happiest moments were spent on his boat with the sun on his face, the gentle rock of the waves beneath him, and his favorite music in the air. Some of his favorites were The Beatles, Johnny Cash, and especially Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver. That song, like his spirit, will echo in the hearts of everyone who loved him.
He adored his fur babies, Rocky and Bella. They were his little shadows, always close by and right where he wanted them. They made him laugh, brought him happiness, and filled his days with joy just by being their goofy, lovable selves.
Tommy embraced the simple pleasures of life, enjoying a Windsor and ginger ale at the Firehouse bar, cruising on his electric bike with Lisa beside him, and soaking up the everyday beauty of Wildwood.
The only boy among five siblings, Tommy shared a deep and special bond with his four sisters: Debbie Waser (Mike), Donna Morawski (Rich), Shelly Novak, and Cheryl Paluszek (Michael). Their connection was built on a lifetime of memories, teasing, support, and unconditional love. He also had a special place in his heart for his sister-in-law Reenie Roach (Ken) and brother-in-law Kevin Myerscough (Desta), who were part of his life since they were kids.
Tommy’s many nieces and nephews will remember him for his humor, his kindness, and his unforgettable presence. Whether it was taking them out on his boat or pulling off one of his classic pranks, he had a way of making moments fun and full of laughter. His quick wit and off-the-wall comments could make anyone laugh, and his presence made everyone feel a little more at home. He was someone they could count on quietly and with his whole heart.
Tommy also shared an unbreakable bond with his close-knit group of childhood friends. They played football together, stood by each other through life’s highs and lows, and remained by his side for decades. More than friends, they were like brothers, connected by loyalty, laughter, and a lifetime of stories only they truly understood.
Tommy was a true jack of all trades. Whether it was building a deck, fixing a light switch, or figuring out something no one else could, he had a natural knack for making things work. He never hesitated to show up with his tools in hand, ready to help family and friends. Saying no was not in his nature. He took pride in being the guy people could count on, and he never looked for anything in return.
He was also a proud retiree of IBEW Local 98, where he spent many years honing his craft and forming lifelong friendships within the brotherhood.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Annette “Nettie” McCann and Thomas Novak, Sr., who no doubt welcomed him home with open arms.
Tommy will be remembered for his quiet strength, his steady heart, and the way he loved without needing to say much. He had a sharp sense of humor, a fierce loyalty to those he cared about, and a way of making people feel seen without ever making a show of it. His presence was calm, his love constant, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Celebration of Life Thursday May 1st 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at The Reilly Rakowski Funeral Home 2632-34 E. Allegheny Ave. Phila., PA 19134.
