Margaret Mary Witalec

WITALEC (nee Winters), Margaret Mary (Marge) of the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia passed away peacefully on May 21 at the age of 83. She is preceded in death by her father, Eugene J. Winters Sr. and her mother, Margaret (nee McFadden) Winters and her brother Eugene J. Winters Jr. (Geno), She is survived by her loving children Mark Witalec (Michelle), Lisa Wilk (Michael), as well as her 5 grandchildren: Luke, Natalie, Owen, Max, and Mason, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Marge was born and raised in Port Richmond where she attended Nativity BVM Grade School and Little Flower High School. Marge was always mothering and supporting her friends, her children’s friends and her neighbors – offering food and drink to all who came into the house, picking up or dropping off anyone who needed a ride, ironing dress shirts, sewing a button or hemming pants, she was the “block captain” of Livingston Street. She was always seen on her front steps talking and laughing with friends and neighbors. She would give you a friendly ’HIYA’ and a big smile to all who drove or walked by her. Marge worked at Smith, Edwards, and Dunlap until her retirement in 2009. She stayed active in retirement by joining LAOH DIV 87 and spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors sharing stories and laughter. We will miss her infectious laugh and her bright smile; we are all truly blessed to carry on her legacy.
All are invited to her Visitation 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 26, 2023 at Nativity BVM Church, 2535 E Allegheny Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19134, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. Interment private.
