Krystyna Teresa Szymula, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and
caregiver, passed away at home on October 22, 2026, at the age of 78.
Born on February 7, 1948, in Przybyszówka, Poland, Krystyna grew up there and began
a lifetime of caring for others. She worked for the Red Cross as a home health aide,
tending to people in their most vulnerable moments with gentleness and dignity. In
1999, she crossed an ocean to join her children in the United States, and she brought
her calling with her. Here, too, she cared for those who needed her, giving them all her
love, care and dedication. She touched the lives of many families she cared for.
Krystyna’s faith was the foundation of her life. She prayed daily and attended Saint
Adalbert parish. It shaped how she lived: with generosity, devotion and quiet strength.
Above all, she was a mother and grandmother who loved fiercely. Her kitchen was
where that love showed most. An excellent cook and baker, she spoiled her children
and grandchildren with their favorite Polish foods, such as pierogi, and no one ever left
her table hungry.
She is survived by her son Piotr Szymula and his wife Agnieszka, and her daughter
Elizabeth Bielecki and her husband Paul. She was the proud grandmother of Karol and
Kalina, Damian and Aneta, and Patryk, Jakub and Lexi, and the adoring great-
grandmother of Adeline, Anthony and Adrienne.
Krystyna was reunited in heaven with her son Robert, her parents, and most of her
siblings. She will be missed beyond words and remembered with every meal, every
prayer and every act of kindness she taught us.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday October 29th 9:00 AM at St. Adalbert Church 2645 E. Allegheny Ave. Phila., PA 19134. Funeral Mass 11:00 AM. Interment Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery.
