Derek Slesinger

–

Newark, Delaware

Derek J. Slesinger, known to his loved ones by his nicknames Tiny Hiney, D-Bump, and D, was a beacon of love and laughter, a charismatic spirit that lit up every room he entered. Born on August 24, 1991, in Media, PA, USA, Derek lived a life that was as vibrant and captivating as his personality. His radiating warmth and humor made him a joy to be around, his eyes twinkling with adventure and laughter.

A kind man with a deep love for his family, friends.Derek was a loving soul who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He especially looked forward to family gatherings and the infectious laughter that always accompanied these occasions. Time with his chosen family "the tunas" was a source of great joy for him. His employment as an IT Specialist allowed him to showcase his creativity and problem-solving skills - traits that were admired by his peers. As a member of the Tuna Club, he formed deep bonds and memories that will forever be cherished by his club mates.

His love for life was not limited to his personal relationships. Derek was an avid traveler, his adventurous spirit leading him to explore the diverse cultures of Latin America, Europe, Asia, Scotland and England. Whether he was visiting an elephant sanctuary, embarking on a safari in Africa, or simply enjoying the tranquil beauty of nature walks, Derek imbued every adventure with his unique sense of humor and zest for life. His passion for music, especially playing the bass guitar, his talent for sketching and playing Alumni Rugby for U of D were additional outlets that allowed him to express his creative side.

Derek leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his mother, Diana Adames, his Father Kurt Slesinger his brother, Justin Slesinger, his sister, Nicole(Nathan) DiVirgilio, niece Francesca, grandfather Warren Slesinger and his beloved grandmother, Margie Crespo (Bue). He was preceded in death by his grandfather Wilfredo Adames Sr, and his grandmother, Betty Slesinger.

As we gather to remember Derek, we hold onto the words from Ecclesiastes 3:1-4, "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance." Even in our deepest grief, we remember Derek's laughter, his love, and his life, and we find comfort.
